In and Around Farsund

It is easy to have a very good time in Farsund! If you don’t know the area, here are some local guides. Please let me know if I should add more!

Eikvåg / Loshavn

This is your local area, within minutes of walking.

What many foreigners do not know, is that “allemannsretten” – translated “the right to roam” – is part of Norwegian law. The law pretty much gives anyone, whether a visitor or citizen of Norway the right to roam anywhere. (https://www.miljodirektoratet.no/publikasjoner/2020/juni-2020/the-norwegian-right-to-roam-the-countryside/).

The amazing benefit of this is that you have endless opportunities to use and walk around and through gorgeous private properties as long as you respect the owners’ privacy. Once, when I was young, my family and I woke up realising there was a tent at the very tip of our property. My father and I walked down and found a young, Dutch couple who had ventured into our garden, and aware of the Norwegian “allemannsretten”, they had decided to put up their tent for the night. My father asked if they had tea or coffee, which they did not, so he brought them a pot of warm coffee much to their delight. The young couple spent the day in Eikvåg and Loshavn, and then packed up their tent, thanked us from the bottom of their hearts, and left.
